Last week, Claris announced two exciting new initiatives, the first a new Software as a Service (SaaS) platform called Claris Studio, and the second a new program for helping Claris users get the most out of their solutions. If you are a member of the Claris community like we are, the big news in the Claris Studio announcement is the long awaited release of a new set of tools for building web forms that will let you easily gather data from web browsers that will feed directly into your FileMaker application without the compromises required by using FileMaker WebDirect or a third- party solution. Soon we’ll be able to work with a developer’s release of this new tool, and in the fall it will be officially released.
Claris Studio will be a new offering that takes the existing Claris tools – Claris Connect, Claris FileMaker Pro, Claris FileMaker Go, and FileMaker WebDirect – and combines them with the new web forms tool to create a single SaaS platform with a new licensing model. The new web forms tool will allow anonymous users to connect with no additional licensing charges, eliminating an issue we have all had with using WebDirect for simple data-gathering web forms.
