One of the great things about developing solutions using FileMaker Pro is that there are always numerous ways to solve a problem. I wanted to use this post to examine a solution we designed for a large managed care organization. Several years ago, we built a customized sponsorship management application for the client that is used to manage the entire process of sponsoring 3rd party events, symposiums, conferences, including review of applications, funding distribution, accounting, and document management.
One of the more exciting new features of FileMaker 16 is the adoption of the cURL library within the “Insert from URL” script step. Using cURL as a command-line tool is relatively straightforward, but the syntax can often be a hurdle.
I had the good fortune to be able to travel to Madras, Oregon for the Eclipse last month, and like any good nerd, I did some shopping in advance and bought a bunch of eclipse gear: solar filters, solar sunglasses, an extra iPhone tripod, etc...
I have been fascinated with impossible places. Things like the Doctor Who Tardis, Hypercubes, and M.C. Escher’s impossible objects, lead me to happy daydreams. Lately I have been wondering, would it be possible to create some of these physically impossible spaces. Could I create them in Virtual Reality (VR), and if so, what would they feel like?
When FileMaker announced it was launching a SDK for creating native iOS apps, this was very exciting news. Developers now have the ability to build an app in FileMaker and send it to the Apple App Store. The steps for going through this process can be a bit cumbersome. After deploying a few apps, I’ve come up with a complete guide to launching an app. Note that these instructions are very specific to FileMaker iOS App SDK v15 and Xcode v8.2.1. If you find any issues when going through the checklist please leave a comment so we may update the checklist and share it with everyone.
