The Claris Beyond Meetup had the pleasure of hearing David Wollesen, of protabase, share about Devin, the new and complete DevOps tool for Claris FileMaker. Devin creates an integrated project workspace for collaborative, branched development, version control, change logging, unit/integration testing, release management, automated deployment and data migration, and centralized server monitoring — all from within FileMaker Pro.
PauseOnError, the FileMaker ‘un-conference’ has been the main in-person developers conference now for two years. This year’s version will take place next week in Georgia. Last year Portage Bay did a session on the different kinds of logging in FileMaker - event logging, audit logging, error logging, etc. This year we’re going to do a session on learning third party APIs - tools we use, looking at documentation, etc. Portage Bay’s senior level developer, Joe Ranne, and I will lead the discussion and I’m sure we’ll learn as much from the session attendees as they might learn from us.
The Claris Beyond Meetup had the pleasure of hearing Jeremy Brown, of Integrating Magic, share about discovering all the JS that we can do in FileMaker. There's a lot of JavaScript we can do in Claris FileMaker Pro. Put another (and more appealing way) there are many more tools available to a FileMaker developer to solve clients' problems in their apps. It's worth exploring all that we can do in JavaScript to be ready when the time comes to implement the language in a client app. Listen to Jeremy walk us through all the possibilities JavaScript gives the FileMaker developer.
The Claris FileMaker Western Washington group and the Claris Connect Meetup are joining together to form a new user group called Claris Beyond. The Western Washington group brings a long history of respect for the FileMaker platform and a deep knowledge of its foundations and capabilities. The Claris Connect group brings an interest in exploring connectors and ways to bridge the gap between FileMaker and other applications. Together, the Claris Beyond user group will continue that shared eagerness to harness the strength of FileMaker while seamlessly connecting it with technology at large - whether that be through Claris Connect, API’s, Tableau, JavaScript, and more.
Our Meetups often contain a Connector of the Month and in this blog post video John Newhoff reviews the Stripe connector, a fully implemented integration in Claris Connect, with 11 triggers and 5 actions. You can capture a variety of actions on your customer’s side and initiate corresponding processes in FileMaker. Examples include updating a customer record in FileMaker when they update their Stripe account, or initiating a sales process when they create a charge in Stripe. Subscribe to our YouTube channel and further your knowledge of how to expand the capabilities of the Claris FileMaker platform.
The Claris Connect Meetup has been gathering online for 18 months where we’ve reviewed a lot of connectors and have had some great discussions about the various aspects of incorporating these automations into your solutions. Today’s blog post shares with you our YouTube channel where you can watch several videos delving deeper into specific connectors. You can also find us online next month at AutoEnter Live where we’ll share a highlight reel of past Meetup sessions and make a special announcement about the expanding future of the user group.
