Portage Bay specializes in bespoke FileMaker hosting. Our hosting environment is tailored to the individual needs of our clients, both in terms of server technical specifications and client support requirements. We work with our managed services provider, Eugenius, to run our private cloud environment where most of our server capacity is hosted. We also utilize AWS for hosting in a wider range of geographic regions when required. We manage 100% of the FileMaker hosting environment, including server monitoring, backup monitoring, data restores (when required), test backup restores, and operating system maintenance.
We manage our own database servers and work on the servers for almost all of our clients at one time or another. Some clients have excellent IT support and well-designed disaster management plans and others have very little of either. Our Server Maintenance Plan is designed to help ensure that your database application does not experience unexpected downtime, is operating at maximum performance, and can be recovered as efficiently as possible in the event of a disaster.
Surprisingly, even with mission-critical applications, there is often a grey area about who exactly is responsible for server and backup monitoring. Our Server Maintenance Plan is designed to make this responsibility explicit and clear, ensuring that the developers, end users, and IT staff all understand who is responsible for each area of ongoing maintenance.
